12-18-2011 Christmas Day Came Early
_
Well we knew it would come a time when FIRST PLACE would be something you could call yours. On 11-29-2011 Doug took Tinman out fishing for what hoped to be another PB day for him. Yes the big fish are starting to make there move around the lake. Tinman found that out today with his new PB of 52 pounds. We all love it while taking people out and watching them catch those big blues. Just to see how they react and there face when that fish is looking right at them. I (Bruce) have been holding a record of 60Ibs for almost two years. But today four months shy of the two year mark - well I can't tell you just yet who it was, but keep reading. Lets start with saying today was a great day on the lake. Big fish came in at 10, 20, 21, 34, 51, and the Monster 63 pounder. Days like this are what some people get to see on TV but let me tell you getting to see it in person is an experience. Ok onto the 51 pounder- As Doug reached down and grabbed that pole the first words out was (oh yes this is a nice one). As he was reeling it in and we got to see that monster in the water my Son in law said OOOOHHHHHH Bruce you may be beat. Well I had to weigh it my self just to see if that was true. NOPE 51 it was, so I even had Doug weight it just to make sure scale was working right. It did look alot bigger then what it weighed. Well shortly after that is when YES MERRY CHRISTMAS DOUG he got another run. As he grabbed the pole to bring it in the drag told us all how big she really was. Doug even made the comment on how it felt bigger then the last one. I did not doubt this with the drag running out and the fish not wanting to come in at all. By the time I got my phone out to get the video going im thinking a minute went by. I took about a minute of video when I noticed were I was standing was not a good place. I stopped the video and moved to the front of the boat, so about 30 to 45 seconds to get into place and start video again. From there I took another 2 1/2 minutes tell the fish was into the boat. Doug is a pretty big dude, and he was saying how this fish was making his arm tired. Five minutes of trying to get 63Ibs of fish in people is not so easy, but so much worth the fight and feeling that it brings. So congrats Mr. DOUG you are now on the top in the personal best with a nice 63 pounds. Go to the video tab and see the 51 and 63.

12-12-2011 Tournament Day
Doug, Anthony, and Chad entered a tournament on lake tawakoni. Team Shadlicker (LOL) out for the hunt to catch the big ones. Doug had recently found a new spot to fish that had produced some really nice fish. So they loaded up the boat with all the gear, and off they went to that area. They ended up doing really well this day with big fish at 46.40, and out of five fish a total of 120.80Ibs. They sat back to watch as all 37 teams that entered weight in. Holding on to first place was such a great feeling. As time went on first place went to second. Still a very good place to be in being all the fish and teams there were. When it was all said and done they ended up with Third place in the tournament. They all won there money back plus some, along with what they love to do. Congrats on the win and may there be many more to come.
4-16-2011 Out fishing with my son.
The wind has been something else this year, but we have managed to get out on the lake and get some more big ones. My son BJ was able to make a trip down to visit us so we can see the new grandbaby. We were able to take my son out fishing hoping he would get a new PB this trip. Well my wish came true. His first big fish of the day broke his PB at 31.9 pounds. And man was it a fighter, it started out at the back of the boat and crossed every line going to the front of the boat were we landed it in the net. Shortly after that the clickers went off again, and the fight was on. These fish were wild today even the smaller ones. At 21.16 pounds it looked to be much bigger with the way it was fighting and running all over the place. The next thing we know the clicker starts to scream again, after locking it down the drag was still taking off. We thought he was going to beat his PB again, but even with the way it was acting at 17 pounds, what have they been feeding the shad this year...LOL He had a great time out with us today with a total of 25 fish all together. Can't wait tell the next time he is able to come out and fish. Maybe he will break a new record next year.
3-23-2010 Smiley Cove did it again.
It was a nice day today and wanted to enjoy the lake and work on getting a little sun on our skins. Ended up being a better day then we thought we would have. Of course Dad is back home in Austin and between Brenda, Doug and myself we caught several eaters along with a 29.5, 20.5, 38.5, 23.5, and a 40 pounder. We thought that last fish was going to be the lake record there for a little. Brenda's clicker started to go off, so she reached down to set the hook. The hook must have came out of his mouth and ended up hooking it underneath by his pooper hole. The hole time this fish was able to swin as it should which made it much harder to bring him into the boat. I thought Brenda was going to shake her self right off the boat. The drag was screaming as the fish took off, and then the knees started to knock. It sure would have been nice for it to be the lake record, but wish we could catch fish that fought like that all the time.
3-12-2010 Couldn't resist.
Doug and I decided to try another spot on the lake today testing out the water. We can't complain about the day, but knew they were starting to slow down. We brought in several box fish along with a 43.5, 28.5, 21, 14, 25.5, 19, 18.5, and a 25.5 pounder. We ended up with about 240 pounds of fish for the day. We just got a little spoiled bringing in suck big fish one after another from the last few trips and didn't want it to end. Warm weather was coming and spawning season for the smaller ones was about to start. We fished a few more times after this date While my Dad was in town hoping to get his hands on some big one's. Although we enjoyed are time together we only brought in 3 fish out of two days.
3-9-2010 Doug's personal best day.
We wanted another day as we have been having from the last few trips so we went back to SMILEY COVE to fish one more time. This was the first day Brenda was able to go out to catch some of these big ones we have been telling her about. You can tell she was just so ready to get her poles in the water, so we got the boat into position and let her rip. Doug and I had three in the boat before Brenda was able to bring one in. But she made up for it with some real nice fish that we were hoping she would get. And on this day Doug latched onto one and started to bring it in. I had the net in my hand ready when I heard him say --oh it feels to be maybe about 25 pounds or so-- not able to see the fish as I was netting it, I started to lift it into the boat. I yelled out saying bull crap Doug this is not no 25 pound blue, cause I'm having trouble lifting it into the boat. Finally got it in and weighed it to find out he just got his PB of 55 pounds. In order as we brought them in the boat were a 6.5, 24.5, 9.5, 42.5, 40, 14, 22.5, 16, 55, 5, and a 29 pounder. Twelve fish and a total of 307 pounds. Another great day on the lake.
3-4-2010 More fun on the lake.
On this day we took our friend Marshall out fishing. We decided to go back to the honey hole from the last trip out. As we were pulling in to our spot you can just see all the swirls in the water from the big fish. We now have named this place SMILEY COVE. We didn't catch any 40's or 50's on this day, but the 20's and 30's were fighting like they were the 40's and 50's. Even the smaller ones made us think about there size. Now im going to list all the fish in order as they were caught. Starting out Doug brought in a 30.5, after getting the fish in the boat we looked at each other and said today is going to be awesome. Then we brought in a 31, 8, 7, 21, 15, 28.5, 26, 22, 20, 4.5, 8.5, 35.5, 17, 21.5, 18.5, 21, 32, 31.5, 5.5, 20.5, 33.5, 17, 7.5, 36, 27.5, and a 2 pounder. We ended up with 27 fish and 552 pounds of fish for the day. Another day in the books we will never forget.
2-28-2010 The very next day
Doug and I(Bruce) went out by our selves this day. We decided to fish in an area we have not fished in before. We had six poles a peace starting out with. I had one that still needed to be set up, so I laid it down and started to cast the other ones out. Doug starts hearing clickers and then mine starts going off too. As soon as I picked up that pole I looked at him and said OH S**t this feels to be a good one. The heart started to beat faster and faster when I seen the big tail slap the water. Once we finally got him into the boat and got him weighed, I couldn't believe I just beat my PB of 45 pounds. He weighed 50 almost on the dot. Then trying to gather my self the clickers go off again. Doug and I started to bring in two at a time. Again I looked at him and said OMG this one feels better then the last one. I beat my PB again, this time with my new 60 pounder. Now I have three poles laying down in the front of the boat. Im exhausted from bringing in these two monster of a fish. Clickers go off again, so I tell Doug to get it. He starts bringing it in and the fish said nope im not coming to you. Takes off and the drag is going wild. This thing was fighting like crazy, but we finally got it into the boat. Weighed it and she came out to be a 40 pounder. Following that it just keep getting better and better. We bring in another 50, 40, 32, 14, and a 15. Total weight out of 12 fish was 401 pounds. The day we could only dream about came true. What a wonderful day it was, and a day we will never forget.
2-27-2010 The day it all started
On this day we took Shawn out fishing with us. It was also the day of the Cabela's tournament. We brought in several box fish this day, but nothing to brag about. We decided to try one more area before we got off the water and then it happen. Shawn latches on to his 50 pounder. The scale we had in the boat was not working, so on the way in we meet up with Pole bender at the ramp and had it weighed. But this is the day it all started. We seen big fish in the future, so decided to go out the next day.
1-18-2010 Brenda's new PB
It was pretty cold on this day but was well worth fighting the cold. We brought in a few box fish along with a 19, 30, 34, and the big 55 pounder. To view the new PB please go to personal best to see photo. Its so much fun watching her bring in the big one's, she starts to shake and the knees start to knock like a wood pecker.
